This is a flexible role, working “as and when required” across the week, 5 days out of 7, including evenings and weekends. Hours will vary each week depending on business and support that is required.

The successful candidate will deliver a broad range of hospitality, events and dining (dinners, weddings and private dinners) across campus in support of internal and corporate business, ensuring that the agreed, highest attainable standards for hospitality and service are consistently delivered.

Applicants will also support the café/restaurant services as required across the various venues across the department, including Manchester Museum, Whitworth Art Gallery and the Alliance Manchester Business School.

Working with the Head Chef and senior colleagues, the post holder will undertake the preparation and delivery of services across the department, with a passion for quality food and high standards of hospitality, including provision for…

  • Catered conferencing and events
  • Lunch services both for events and within our cafes
  • Dinners and banqueting
  • Weddings
  • Support other food-led outlets within the department

The successful applicant will support planned event deliveries to agreed timings and standards, including the running of dinner/banqueting service, fine dining and other events, working with front of house colleagues to ensure an efficient service which is to the agreed food presentation and quality standards, and which delivers the customer experience.

They must have the relevant technical culinary skills gained within a similar environment, as well as a working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations (including up to date Food Safety and Allergen Management), along with a good interpersonal team attitude and self-motivation. Good verbal and written communication skills, a natural positive attitude towards a busy/pressurised environment and the ability to work flexibly across the week to the requirements the business is essential to this role.
