Job Description

At Manchester, we are committed to supporting the career development of Teaching and Scholarship academics and to ensuring parity of esteem for teaching alongside research. The Faculty of Humanities has a strong track record of recognising, rewarding, and promoting colleagues who specialise in teaching and learning.

To further strengthen our teaching and scholarship portfolio, we are currently looking for an academic member of staff to join our Marketing Group as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer on a Teaching and Scholarship (T&S) contract.

The normal terms and conditions of the University of Manchester apply to this post.

The post-holder will be involved in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and scholarship in the field of Marketing. Their portfolio of work will reflect both the needs of the School and their own areas of interest and expertise. We are particularly eager to hear from applicants with interests and expertise in general marketing (e.g. consumer behaviour, marketing management/strategy, retail marketing, international marketing, research methods).

Alliance Manchester Business School is interested in T&S colleagues who have some (Lecturer) or sustained record of (Senior lecturer) experience in enhancing teaching quality and students’ learning experience. The role involves innovating to improve teaching quality and producing and publishing teaching-related materials. You will have a proportionately larger teaching load than your research-focused colleagues, but you will be allowed some time for scholarship activity and receive an annual budget for the same.

In your application, please indicate clearly whether you are applying for a Lecturer or a Senior Lecturer role.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers

As an equal opportunities employer we support an inclusive working environment and welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
