Job Description

The Access & Student Success team is responsible for ensuring that the University identifies and recruits students of outstanding achievement and potential from all educational backgrounds, encouraging progression into higher education more generally, particularly within its local communities and supporting the successful continuation, attainment and progression of on-course students who may experience barriers.

We are currently recruiting for a permanent Access, Student Success and Development Coordinator.

The post holder would benefit from existing experience of working with groups underrepresented in HE, and key skills include the ability to prioritise a varied workload in a busy environment, a flexible approach to work, a creative approach to problem solving, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and experience of motivating and supervising others.

Appointees will be expected to have the flexibility to support a number of projects within the team based upon business need, however this recruitment process is focused on appointing a team member to support the delivery of our work with current students on projects supporting community building, belonging, academic skills and personal development for communities. This includes supporting activities such as our Manchester 10/10 initiative for Black heritage students and other initiative that support students from Black, Asian and Ethnic minority communities, as well as care experienced and sanctuary seeker students.

The post holders will work collaboratively within the wider Access & Success team and directorate in a fast paced and friendly working environment that values individuals who can generate ideas and use their initiative to deliver excellent activities for our participants and their supporters.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period

As an equal opportunities employer, the university welcomes applications from all suitably qualified persons and all appointments will be made on merit. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applications from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic community who are currently under-represented at this level in the university.
