
The bp International Centre for Advanced Materials (bp-ICAM) is a bp sponsored leading research centre with 44 active research projects (at March 2025) in i) materials degradation and protection ii) novel processes and corrosion pathways and iii) product development and optimisation. The fifteen- year $100m investment programme is modelled on a "Hub and Spoke" structure, with the "Hub" located within The University of Manchester. The "Spokes" and other founder members are the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, and the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign.
bp-ICAM is looking for a candidate to provide Project Support. The post holder will be responsible for continuing to build the internal bp-ICAM community, through a variety of methods (events, online collaboration tools, relationship management). The bp-ICAM community consists of a range of stakeholders, including PhD students, Post-Doctoral Researchers, Academics and Support Staff from The University of Manchester, the Spoke Universities, and bp.
The role is varied, and the successful candidate will be familiar with co-ordinating projects, have a high degree of self-motivation, be able to use initiative, have good attention to detail, be an effective communicator (both orally and in writing), and be able to manage a demanding workload. On occasion, this role may involve some evening work for events.
The successful candidate must also have a high level of IT literacy, and possess a good working knowledge of various software packages, such SharePoint, Microsoft Office, various video conferencing packages. Experience of event management would be an advantage.
