
The Research Development Manager (Biological Sciences and Biotechnology) will be a key member of the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) team and will work alongside the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation to develop and implement strategic initiatives within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health (FBMH).
This role is pivotal in driving forward our research and innovation strategies, fostering collaborative links, and managing relationships with external partners. Key responsibilities include supporting development of research funding bids, facilitating interdisciplinary interactions within the Faculty and University, and maintaining relationships with external funding agencies including BBSRC and the Wellcome Trust.
The post holder will be a proactive, highly skilled, organised and motivated individual with proven experience of playing a substantive role in the preparation/evaluation of large, complex grant proposals and delivering an increase in research funding. Key aspects of the role include gathering funding intelligence, horizon scanning and capacity building to ensure that FBMH is well positioned to respond to funding opportunities. Initiating and leading project and partnership activity and maximising relations with relevant parties and services will be important for success.
The post holder will report to the RDI Manager and will be a key member of the RDI team. The group of Research Development Managers work closely with senior academic leadership (Vice-Dean for Research and Innovation, Faculty Associate Deans and School Research Directors) and other RDI functions (e.g. business engagement, impact and translational research) to provide service excellence and enable the Faculty to realise its ambitions.
