Healthier Futures brings together a highly multi-disciplinary community from across the University, together with external stakeholders, with aims that include:

  • Providing an integrated view of the University’s research tackling questions aimed at reducing health inequalities, creating a ‘front door’ for potential partners and funders.
  • Developing a coherent strategy for how The University of Manchester can be a leading partner in the pursuit of health equity.
  • Co-producing research and shaping new research questions with stakeholders, including those communities experiencing health inequalities and local government.
  • Stimulating new interdisciplinary research by bringing together diverse research communities to leverage external funding.
  • Enabling real change to help address health inequalities, with research that has an impact locally, nationally, or globally.

We wish to appoint a postdoctoral research associate with an interest in health inequalities and skills in quantitative and qualitative research approaches. The successful candidate will work with us to map existing evidence for the effects of policies aimed at reducing health disparities, conduct evidence synthesis, develop proposals for submission to research funders and draft research protocols and papers.

The appointee will work with Professor Dame Nicky Cullum (Line Manager) and will be based in the Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, School of Health Sciences in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. This is a full-time post, and the post-holder will be office-based at the University of Manchester campus on Oxford Road.
