Job Description

An opportunity is available for a postdoctoral research position associated with the Medical Research Council project, “Analytical Tools for FFX Studies and the Go.Data Framework”, funded under the “Better Methods for Better Research” scheme. An “FFX” study is the “First Few X”, where X could be e.g. “hundreds” or “thousands”, which is run early in a new outbreak to obtain key information to inform its management. The aim of the project is to develop computationally efficient tools for the analysis of such studies that can be run in resource-limited settings. This project is led by Thomas House (University of Manchester) with Lorenzo Pellis (University of Manchester) and Chistopher Overton (University of Liverpool and UK Health Security Agency) as co-Investigators. The project is to be delivered in collaboration with the World Health Organisation and UK Health Security Agency as well as other academic collaborators of the investigator team. The post-holder will also be expected to co-ordinate with other related, complementary initiatives (for example: the R Epidemics Consortium; EpiVerse; EpiRecipes) to ensure software interoperability and exploitation of possible synergies.
