Since 2019 the Centre for Digital Trust and Society and the University of Manchester College for Interdisciplinary Learning (UCIL) have developed and delivered an interdisciplinary undergraduate course on Trust and Security in the Digital World. The course, available in 10 and 20 credit versions, provides undergraduates of any discipline with knowledge and skills to understand and manage many of the harmful consequences of digital technologies, including data breaches, data surveillance and privacy violations, financial crime and fraud, online harassment and sexual exploitation, and ‘fake news’. An overview of the UG course can be found here and a ‘taster’ unit can be found here.
Building on the success of this course, we are now developing the course content to deliver a set of microcredentials that can be taken as standalone units as part of continuous professional development. Microcredentials are short courses and comprise a series of modules designed to acquire knowledge and new skills in the specific area of digital trust and security. We expect to begin to release these in 2024.
We are seeking a full-time Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) to work closely with the course leaders Prof Nicholas Lord and Dr Meropi Tzanetakis and the UCIL education development team and will contribute to the course development and teaching at postgraduate level.
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
