Project Overview
REFLECT (A REsponsible innovation Framework for assessing noveL spray tEChnology research To examine local albedo changes from marine brightening and its multi-scale impacts) is a multi-institute project funded by ARIA led by The University of Manchester and involving the Universities of Cambridge, Exeter, Leeds, the UK National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS), Archipelago Technologies and the Finnish Meteorological Institute. Reducing CO2 in the atmosphere is essential to avoid very harmful climate change, yet global progress to achieve this is at present too slow. There may well be a need to implement interventions that delay warming effects until effective CO2 reduction strategies are in place. Marine Cloud Brightening (MCB) and Marine Sky Brightening (MSB) are approaches that may well deliver on this goal but require rigorous research at limited scale to provide our models with the data needed to ensure predictions are robust. The REFLECT team is undertaking a programme of research to develop spray systems, undertake laboratory evaluations, conduct model predictions and develop a plan to undertake limited area fieldresearch following a responsible research framework.
We are looking for a Project Manager to join our interdisciplinary team. You will be supported to combine your individual talents with the wider team’s breadth of skills. You will work closely with the REFLECT Principal Investigator Prof. Hugh Coe and the wider project partners. The project is for 3 years in the first instance with a further 2 years available subject to successful stage gate review by the funder.
We are committed to creating a fully inclusive and flexible culture, one where everyone can realise their potential and make a positive contribution to our organisation. We believe that if we can positively diversify our staff we will be able to collaborate more effectively and create a more productive environment. If you think you will be a good fit for this role we look forward to hearing from you!
