Job Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and self-driven post-doctoral associate to join a new interdisciplinary research project that was recently funded by the EPSRC SFI scheme. The project was funded for 36 months and led by University of Bristol, with University of Manchester (UoM), ISIS Neutron and Muon Facility and University of Galway as collaborating partners. The UoM PDRA will be based in the dynamic Biological Physics Group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, UoM, and the group has earned an international reputation in biointerface research.

The overall aim of the project is to study how Dengue capsid protein C binds to lipid drops (LD) by combining physical and computational approaches. The UoM PDRA will play a key role in the collaborative teams by exploring how neutron reflection and scattering can be utilized to unravel the interacting processes from different membrane models to be developed. A further focus is to design molecular disruptors to interfere with the binding interaction between viral protein C and membrane proteins.

Applications are encouraged from candidates with prior training and knowledge in soft matter and biological physics, and proven track record in neutron reflection and scattering and molecular dynamics simulations applied to protein’s interfacial processes.
