Job Description

Manchester University Press (MUP) is looking for a Senior Commissioning Editor to join their acquisitions team, leading the Social Sciences list. For over 120 years, MUP has published excellent books for a scholarly, student and broader readership, with key strengths in Sociology, Anthropology and Geography. This will be an unrivalled opportunity for a talented editor to join a growing press and help to develop a distinguished and thriving list in new directions.

The successful candidate will have experience in commissioning high-quality academic Social Sciences titles for use by both scholars and students, and we are open to applications from candidates with expertise in areas beyond the current list strengths. They will have an established network of contacts in relevant fields and be skilled in developing new author relationships. They will be both creative and collaborative, able to work within a close-knit team to generate and develop new ideas and leads, and happy to pursue them. They will combine the ability to meet deadlines and keep a busy list organised with a talent for problem solving and making things happen.

Hybrid and remote working will be considered for this role.
