Job Description

We seek an ambitious and motivated Research Technician to join our team investigating the brain mechanisms responsible for dictating whether animals are nocturnal or diurnal. The successful candidate will support a postdoctoral researcher working on this project and will take responsibility for assisting with electrophysiological and surgical procedures, running behavioural studies, performing histological processing on brain tissue and managing colonies of nocturnal and diurnal mice.

Full training will be supplied as appropriate, however, some laboratory experience with at least one of the following is essential: immunohistochemistry, electrophysiological recording, working with laboratory rodents and/or collection and processing of rodent brain tissue. Training in neuroscience and/or experience with electronics or computer programming is also highly desirable.

Successful candidates may be subject to pre-employment screening carried out on our behalf by a third party. The offer of employment will be dependent on the successful candidate passing that screening. Whilst you will be required to provide express consent at a later stage, by continuing with your application now you acknowledge that you are aware that such screening will take place, and agree to take part in the process.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers
