Job Description

Driven by an unparalleled commitment to building understanding between cultures and a more sustainable world, Manchester Museum, part of the University of Manchester, was recently awarded European Museum of the Year 2025. We aspire to be the most imaginative, inclusive and caring museum you will ever visit. Nearly 2 million people have visited since the museum reopened after a major values-led and co-created capital transformation in February 2023.

The community co-curated South Asia Gallery seeks to reach out to the diverse communities it serves. Continuing the model of co-curation and transferring creative control to those whom the gallery represents, the role will work closely with South Asian communities to develop future content and programming for the gallery.

We’re looking for somebody with experience of working with South Asian communities and cultures but no previous history of working in a museum is required.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers

As an equal opportunities employer we support an inclusive working environment and welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
