Job Description

Applications are invited for a three-year fellowship based in the new Medical Research Council Centre of Research Excellence (MRC CoRE) in Exposome Immunology, hosted jointly by the universities of Manchester and Oxford. The CoRE will leverage cutting edge computational approaches, novel experimental models, and experimental medicine studies to uncover how pollutants and infections interact with our genes to cause and exacerbate chronic inflammatory diseases.

The purpose of the fellowship is to enable an experienced postdoctoral researcher to develop an independent research programme and generate data towards submitting applications for prestigious intermediate fellowships (e.g. the Career Development Award schemes funded by MRC or Wellcome). The successful applicant will have significant research experience in the generation and characterisation of airborne pollutants, and their application to biological systems. With a background in environmental/physical sciences, they will have a plan to develop an exciting and unique research niche within the centre, studying the impact of air pollution on the immune system, supported by immunology colleagues within the CoRE.
