Job Description

This 3 year position (with potential for extension) will support a wide range of research activities within the Glyco-Immunology (Dyer) lab in the context of understanding the role of the cell surface glycocalyx in immune cell recruitment to the inflamed brain. The appointee will be responsible for:

  • Routine sample preparation for mass-spectrometry based analysis of glycans and development of new applications of this approach with time and training.
  • The management of general laboratory facilities including ordering, organisation and routine paperwork.
  • The recruitment and supervision of students from widening participation schemes to enable junior researchers to gain experience in the lab.

The candidate will have:

  • A qualification at QCF level 6 (such as a bachelor’s degree) in a relevant biological science subject.
  • Relevant and specific laboratory experience in the field of biochemical analysis and/or matrix/glyco-biology and/or bioimaging and flow cytometry.
  • Ability to plan, organise and undertake a complex workload with multiple and competing priorities, without supervision.
