We’re excited to be recruiting a dynamic and motivated Radiation Technical Adviser to join our Radiation Safety Unit Team at The University of Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact in a world-leading institution known for its collaborative, forward-thinking culture.
About the Role
The post holder will work closely with the Head of Radiological Safety and team members of the Radiation Safety Unit (RSU), in advising and overseeing the University’s radiological management and control systems.
To assist with the maintenance of duty of care arrangements made under the provisions of the Ionising and Non-ionising Radiations Regulations.
To manage arrangements for the safe use of sealed and unsealed radioactive sources, X-radiation equipment, lasers and other sources of ionising and non-ionising radiation including risk assessments, standard operating procedures and local rules, and to undertake conformance and compliance surveys.
To assist in legislative compliance associated with transport and safeguarded materials, and to liaise with other University staff regarding the export and import of radioactive materials.
To work closely with the team in managing and delivering the radiological protection training programme.
To work with the team on radiation metrology and other laboratory based activities.
