We are looking for an enthusiastic, medically qualified individual with an interest in musculoskeletal research to enroll for a PhD in data analysis and recruitment of patients to clinical studies. The successful candidate will be involved in analysing data from patients with rheumatoid arthritis as part of a large international study funded by the European Union: PerPrev-CID (Personalised Disease Prediction and Prevention in Chronic Inflammatory Disorders, Home | PerPrev-CID). The study aims to identify new standards for early molecular diagnosis and novel assessment tools for prediction of disease exacerbations and flare. The post is available immediately for 36 months, but the start date can be negotiated to fit with current commitments. It is expected that the successful candidate would enrol for a PhD. The Fellow will be based at the Centre for Genetics and Genomics Versus Arthritis (CfGG), University of Manchester, Manchester UK. CfGG is considered to be the pre-eminent research group internationally undertaking research into the occurrence, causation, impact and outcome of the major rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders and fosters a strong programme of staff development and support. The Fellow will also spend time at the Kellgren Centre for Rheumatology at Manchester Foundation Trust, to lead recruitment for prospective studies to investigate predictors of flare. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with an interest in pursuing a clinical academic career. You will be involved in the analysis of existing genetic, and serological data as well as recruiting patients. Full training is available.
