The Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement (JBCE) is one of The University of Manchester’s Cultural Institutions, and an award-winning cultural and science discovery organisation. Overall purpose of the role

The AV & Events Technical Lead is responsible for coordinating all technical aspects of the organisation’s events (public and corporate), content production, and digital media services. The role requires advanced technical expertise across audio-visual systems, live streaming, and content production, combined with strong communication, collaboration, and creative problem solving skills.

Reporting to the Events Production Manager, and working closely with the Head of Programmes and Partnerships, the postholder will support the delivery of an annual programme of events that aligns with the Centre’s strategic objectives. They will manage complex technical projects, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions to ensure seamless delivery and the highest standards of technical performance. They will also support the delivery of corporate events on a regular basis.

A key part of the role is to drive creative thinking and actively contribute to ideation, helping shape innovative content and event formats that enhance audience engagement and strengthen the organisation’s messaging. The postholder will also identify opportunities for continuous improvement, refining event production processes, workflows, and technical approaches to increase efficiency and impact.

In addition, they will coordinate technical procurement and provide specialist guidance to senior and executive management, internal stakeholders, and external partners. Through this work, the AV & Events Technical Lead will help deliver high-quality, forward-thinking events and content that inspire, inform, and elevate the organisation’s voice.
