Job Description

As Strategy and Engagement Manager for the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Greater Manchester, you will lead the management and successful delivery of research programmes and projects across ARC-GM’s six research themes, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and robust governance. This means overseeing planning, coordination, risk management, and reporting to keep complex, multi-stakeholder projects on track.

Alongside this, you will embed ARC-GM’s enabling strategies—which include Research Inclusion, Public and Community Involvement, Research Capacity Development, Knowledge Mobilisation, and Stakeholder Partnerships—into every aspect of programme delivery. These strategies are essential for ensuring that research is inclusive, co-produced with communities, and translated into real-world impact. You will champion cross-theme collaboration, identify synergies, and create opportunities for shared learning and innovation.

This dual focus—on operational excellence and strategic integration—positions you as a key driver of research that is timely, needs-driven, and transformative for health and social care.

If you are a strategic thinker with exceptional organisational and communication skills, and passionate about creating research that transforms lives through collaboration, we’d love to hear from you.

What will you get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
