Job Description

The Blood-brain Barrier research group within the Division of Pharmacy & Optometry wish to appoint a laboratory-based Research Associate to an exciting project exploring how pre-eclampsia influences the structure and function of the blood-brain barrier in vitro.

During this position, the post-holder will undertake a range of activities including establishing in vitro models of the blood-brain barrier using primary endothelial cells and an immortalised endothelial cell line. Subsequently, the successful candidate will investigate the effects of placenta-derived samples and plasma on blood-brain barrier integrity (electrical resistance, permeability) and physiological function (detoxification transporter activity).

Successful candidates may be subject to pre-employment screening carried out on our behalf by a third party.
