The University of Manchester has a long heritage of supporting outstanding student athletes over the last 100 years of intervarsity sporting competition. The University recognises the importance of delivering a high-quality sporting offer for both our current students experience and success as well as for prospective athletes considering Manchester as their place of study.
The University is therefore seeking to appoint a Sport Coordinator to support the development of our University of Manchester representative sport teams and individuals. The role holder will be responsible for supporting the Performance Sport and broader UoM Sport strategic objectives that aim to deliver high quality sport and physical activity experiences for everyone at every level. Specifically, the Sport Coordinator will coordinate a broad, multi-sport programme of competitions and training, embedding a culture of commitment and maximising achievement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating our year-round representative sport program, which includes trials, training, inter-university competition and sports coach recruitment and supervision. The role involves collaborating with various individuals and teams across the UoM Sport department and managing multiple stakeholders and partners simultaneously. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to manage and supervise staff, build effective relationships with stakeholders and have a strong understanding of planning, delivering, and reviewing competitive sport programs. Competence in using IT (specifically M365 apps and software), working within budget parameters, recording and evaluating data, and planning, prioritizing, and organizing work to meet agreed objectives is also required. We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic and engaging individual with significant experience of performance and competitive sport in the UK, ideally within the higher education sports environment.
The role is predominantly office based, with the ability for some hybrid working arrangements in agreement with line manager.
