About the Role:

This is an outstanding opportunity for a Research Assistant, with a background in immunology, to work within the Cruickshank, Coyte and Couper groups under the supervision of Professor Sheena Cruickshank. The post holder will be part of the Lydia Becker Institute of Immunology and Inflammation, which is based in the AV Hill Building at the University of Manchester.

The candidate will support the aims of helping to define the impact of the microbiota on the healing response in metastatic cutaneous Crohn’s disease funded by the British Skin Foundation. This innovative project will study bacterial cross talk with human skin cells to explore how changes in the microbiome affect the skin and how cells in Crohn’s impact the microbiota.

This position offers an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic, well-motivated individual to work as part of a sociable multi-disciplinary team consisting of clinicians, immunologists, microbiologists and bioinformaticians. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills, and will be able to work with minimal supervision. Experience of working with human tissue, cell and microbial culture and cellular analysis is essential for the position.
