About IT Services

IT Services at the University of Manchester is a vibrant and fast-moving department, we focus on delivering excellent customer service and quality services for our staff, students and researchers.

The Team

The Information Security and Identity and Access Management (IS and IDAM) division is dedicated to ensuring the security of new and existing University services. We focus on the successful delivery of ongoing assurance and maintenance through diverse security projects. Our multidisciplinary teams work collaboratively to break down barriers and implement robust information security solutions. We are a key part of IT Services, prioritizing the protection of university data and infrastructure

The Role

As a Security Improvement Coordinator, you will lead the delivery of information security changes across the University. You’ll work closely with various teams to plan projects at both a strategic and operational level, ensuring all security initiatives meet high standards of quality and reliability

The Person

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Project Expertise: Expertise in managing complex technology or security projects from initial planning through to successful delivery.
  • Leadership Skills: A proven ability to lead and motivate teams while fostering an inclusive, values-based culture.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across a diverse organisation.
  • Operational Management: Experience in planning and coordinating ongoing activities to meet organisational goals.
  • Eseential Qualifications: Project and programme management (e.g., APM, PRINCE2) or equivalent
