Job Description

About the Role:

Are you an enthusiastic and ambitious clinician looking to be part of a leading inter-disciplinary research team? Do you have experience in complex clinical medicine? Do you have an interest in cardio-rheumatology? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading Universities and Biomedical Research Centres?

An opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and eager clinician to work with world-leading researchers at the Faculty of Biology, Medicine & Health, University of Manchester and the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre.

This full-time post offers an opportunity to build on your existing clinical experience and develop research skills in cardio-rheumatology. Responsible to Professor Maya H Buch, you will support her regional and national CARDIO-IMID (cardio-rheumatology) research programmes, with a strategy that aims to advance our management of immune mediated diseases and improve cardiovascular involvement.

You will work with Professor Buch’s experimental medicine research team and key academics and investigators across the rheumatology and cardio-rheumatology field and imaging groups to support novel and ambitious research studies. The post requires working with key team members across the Faculty of Biology, Medicine & Health and BRC and you will be integral to the success of the wider research programmes.

The expectation is to work with Professor Buch to recruit to, develop research projects, and help with data analysis and publications. There will be the opportunity to work towards a higher research degree.

This is an exciting opportunity for a rheumatology trainee, especially if you are aiming to sub specialise in rheumatology and/or pursue an academic career.

You will be medically qualified, with MRCP or equivalent, a training number in rheumatology and full GMC registration.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers and more
