Job Description

Applications are invited for a NIHR Manchester Musculoskeletal BRC Senior Study Co-ordinator post.

Appointment is for maternity cover starting 29th June 2026 and run for one year. During this time, successful applicant will lead a team of study co-ordinators and research project staff to provide full co-ordination on various research studies within the BRC.

Rheumatic Musculoskeletal Diseases (RMDs) such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis affect >18 million people in the UK, account for 1 in 5 of GP consultations and have poorer outcomes in lower socioeconomic and minority populations. Inflammatory RMDs are associated with multi-morbidity, premature mortality and have treatment non-response rates >30%. Osteoarthritis (OA) and chronic back pain lack effective disease modifying interventions, yet account for more working-age disability than any other disease. The Centre for Musculoskeletal Research (a European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology Centre of Excellence) hosts the RMD arm of the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre (MBRC).This post is funded by the MBRC to manage coordination of studies investigating prevention and better treatments for RMDs.

The successful candidate will lead an existing team of study coordinators and data administrators. The role will involve the efficient coordination of biological sample collection from a number of collaborating sites across the UK within ongoing study frameworks. The role also involves coordination of other aspects of the existing studies including data management, ethics, QC, reporting and document management to Research Governance standards. Thirdly, the role will involve setting up all aspects of new studies.

We welcome applications from suitable high calibre candidates with eligibility details provided in the online job description and person specification.
