Job Description


We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in Operations Management and Project Management within Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS), Faculty of Humanities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Information Systems & Operations Management Group and contribute to world‑class teaching within a leading business school. The role focuses on delivering engaging, applied teaching in areas such as Operations Management, Project Management and Business Improvement, supported by a strong commitment to pedagogic scholarship.

This is a full‑time, permanent post based on the University’s Oxford Road campus.

You will contribute to teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and will have the opportunity to innovate in curriculum design and delivery, using approaches such as case‑based learning, simulations and experiential learning. The role is particularly suited to candidates who can connect theory with practice and bring contemporary insights into areas such as digital operations and project delivery.

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing and delivering high‑quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
  • Teaching in areas such as operations management, project management, business improvement and service operations
  • Supervising student projects and providing academic and pastoral support
  • Developing innovative teaching materials and contributing to programme and curriculum enhancement
  • Engaging in scholarship that enhances teaching and learning and contributes to pedagogic development

About You
We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria

  • A doctoral degree (or near completion) or relevant professional qualification
  • Specialist knowledge in Operations Management and/or Project Management
  • Teaching experience at university level, including designing and delivering modules
  • Ability to engage and inspire students, using a range of teaching and assessment approaches
  • Excellent communication, organisational and collaborative working skills

Desirable Criteria

  • Expertise in areas such as digital operations, Agile/Scrum, project scheduling or performance measurement
  • Experience contributing to programme development and student support systems
  • Evidence of pedagogic scholarship or teaching innovation
  • Engagement with professional bodies or industry partners

Appointment will be made at Lecturer (Grade 6/7) or Senior Lecturer (Grade 8) level depending on experience. Senior Lecturer applicants should demonstrate a strong track record in teaching excellence, curriculum leadership and pedagogic scholarship.
