Job Description



We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Research) in Digital Transformation within Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS), Faculty of Humanities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Information Systems & Operations Management Group and contribute to world‑class research and teaching in digital transformation. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a strong socio‑technical perspective, who can explore how digital technologies interact with organisational strategy, culture and change.

This is a full‑time, permanent role based at the University’s Oxford Road campus.

You will contribute to teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, delivering engaging, research‑informed content in areas such as digital transformation, organisational change and digital innovation. You will also develop an independent research profile, contributing to high‑quality publications, externally funded projects and wider impact.

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and delivering high‑quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
  • Teaching topics such as digital transformation, digital strategy, organisational change, and platform and ecosystem thinking
  • Supervising student projects and contributing to academic support and pastoral care
  • Developing and publishing internationally recognised research in digital transformation or a related field
  • Contributing to research funding applications, partnerships and external engagement

About You
We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria

  • A PhD (or close to completion) in Information Systems or a closely related discipline specialist knowledge in Digital Transformation
  • Specialist knowledge in digital transformation and its organisational and strategic dimensions
  • Experience delivering high‑quality teaching at university level
  • Evidence of research activity, with potential (Lecturer) or track record (Senior Lecturer) of high‑quality publications
  • Excellent communication, organisational and collaborative working skills

Desirable Criteria

  • Expertise in areas such as design thinking, digital analytics, prototyping or emerging technologies
  • Experience delivering experiential or practice‑led teaching
  • Evidence of securing research funding or building external collaborations
  • Engagement with industry, policy or professional networks

Appointment will be made at Lecturer (Grade 6/7) or Senior Lecturer (Grade 8) level depending on experience. Senior Lecturer candidates should demonstrate a strong research profile, leadership in teaching and curriculum development, and growing international recognition.
