TLSE Assistant (Information Advice & Guidance)

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Assistant. This permanent, full-time role is based on Oxford Road, Manchester, within the Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) team in the School of Medical Sciences. It supports student-facing services and activities that enhance the student experience, with on-campus presence required for most of the working week and occasional evening work depending on operational need.

You will be responsible for:

• Acting as a first point of contact for student support and wellbeing queries, providing excellent customer service, accurate information and guidance, and escalating concerns appropriately.

• Maintaining a welcoming and responsive presence within student-facing services, including the Student Support Hub.

• Supporting student experience initiatives, including peer mentoring, student engagement, student representative activity, wellbeing activities, societies and events.

• Maintaining accurate records, preparing correspondence and documentation, tracking actions and supporting data quality across relevant systems and platforms.

• Providing operational and team support, including room bookings, catering, papers, minutes, meeting administration, ordering goods and services, and liaising with colleagues, students and the Students’ Union.

Essential Criteria:

• Experience of working with administrative processes.
• Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of people.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work in a busy environment.
• A flexible, responsive approach to customer needs, providing information and guidance while maintaining confidentiality.
• Digital literacy, with familiarity with standard IT packages.

Desirable Criteria:

• Knowledge of the University’s co-curricular offer, such as peer support or student representatives.
• Experience and/or an interest in supporting and developing the student experience.
• Experience of working in a customer service environment.
• Good numeracy skills, attention to detail and the ability to resolve issues effectively.
• Experience of working in a team environment and supporting colleagues.
