
Manchester University Press (MUP) is looking for a Senior Commissioning Editor to join their history acquisitions team. For 120 years, MUP has published excellent history books for a scholarly, student and broader readership, with key strengths in Imperialism, Gender, Medieval Studies and the History of Medicine. This will be an unrivalled opportunity for a talented editor to join a growing press and help to develop a distinguished and thriving list in new directions.
The successful candidate will have experience in commissioning high-quality academic History titles. They will have an established network of contacts in relevant fields and be skilled in developing new author relationships. They will be both creative and collaborative, able to work within a close-knit team to generate and develop new ideas and leads, and happy to pursue them. They will combine the ability to meet deadlines and keep a busy list organised with a talent for problem solving and making things happen.
We would be particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have commissioned course books and monographs, and from those who have expertise in Medieval Studies and Early Modern History.
Hybrid and remote working will be considered for this role.
