About IT Services

IT Services at the University of Manchester is a vibrant and fast-moving department, we focus on delivering excellent customer service and quality services for our staff, students and researchers. 

The Team

A newly-formed division, Infrastructure Services gathers together our Network, Computing and Data Center Platforms, including support for Campus Development by the UoM Estates Directorate.

The programme covers three areas:

  • Change driven by the Infrastructure Roadmap – A rolling plan of maintenance and refresh of core infrastructure platforms.
  • Development of new Infrastructure capability – Development of core infrastructure platforms to incorporate new technology or meet new demand.
  • ITS input to Estates initiatives – Delivery of ITS components within Campus development projects delivered by the Estates Directorate

The role

We are looking for a Project Manager to focus on Roadmap activities and support for the Estates Directorate; working directly with ITS team leaders and other PMs, as well as Estates teams to agree, plan and manage delivery of work packages.

The main purposes of the role are to identify, plan and manage delivery of scheduled improvements to IT infrastructure, ITS input to Estates projects, and work packages to other ITS PMs.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the identified activities are on track to deliver the agreed successful outcomes and benefits within defined time, cost and quality parameters, operating within a standard project management framework at all times.

The person
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Ability to manage multiple activities
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan, schedule, monitor and report on agreed activities to ensure that each contributes to the overall achievement of the programme
  • Ability to identify and manage risk as well prompt response to emerging issues
