The UK’s first Faculty of Education was launched at the University of Manchester in 1914, and we have been championing the vulnerable and addressing educational challenges ever since. Manchester Institute of Education (MIE) currently has over 150 members of academic staff, and over 100 postgraduate research students. We offer range of successful postgraduate and undergraduate courses, delivered both face-to-face and at a distance, which recruit over 1,000 students per year. Our initial teacher education programmes are all rated outstanding, and we prepare over 500 new teachers for the classroom every year.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Lecturer in Education (T&R) post will provide an ideal entry-level or early-career position for a research-focussed scholar who is fully committed to students and teaching. You will be expected to contribute to and enhance MIE’s research-led teaching in Education, across a range of UG and PGT programmes, and to develop a research profile consistent with the UoM’s published expectations. In support of this, you will be inducted into a thriving and supportive academic environment, and assigned to one or more of our active RSGs. MIE has recently embarked on a programme of expansion, and the advertised post is on top of a recruitment cycle that began in summer 2021 and has since brought 15-20 new colleagues to the department on full-time, permanent contracts. We aim to provide all of the backing and mentorship needed for you to fulfil your professional potential in a warm and collegial environment.
