Marginalisation multiplied: Improving autistic health inequalities with collaborative interdisciplinary research and knowledge transfer through Autism@Manchester
Autism@Manchester is looking to appoint a Research Associate/Co-Production Officer. This is a full-time post for up to 1 year working on a project around autistic health inequalities.
The aim of this project is to co-design resources and projects to support a grant application to improve autistic health inequalities. This will be achieved through three work packages (WPs).
WP 1 will consist of establishing an interdisciplinary Knowledge Transfer and Exchange network of relevant stakeholders to support the translation of our research findings into practice.
WP2 will involve working with autistic people from marginalised backgrounds to optimise and pilot test the Autism@Manchester Research Involvement toolkit which supports autistic people to learn about and become involved in research.
WP3 a NIHR Programme Development Grant application will be written that develops research streams to tackle autistic health inequalities.
The Research Associate/Co-Production Officer will work closely with the two Principal Investigators (Emma Gowen and Kelly Birtwell) across the three work packages and will contribute to overall project management. You will be an integral part of the project, contributing to the design and ideas from both your professional and lived experience.
You will have (or be about to submit) a PhD and also have experience of and an interest in autism research and/or health research. You will have experience of working and communicating effectively in a team whilst also being able to work independently with support from the project team.
This is an unique opportunity for a person who has lived experience of autism, seeking a varied post-doc experience (e.g. project management, resource design, research co-production, paper and grant writing and knowledge transfer and exchange) with a direct practical application.
