Job Description

A Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position is available for an outstanding and ambitious materials scientist to undertake research in the chemical vapour deposition (CVD) growth and transfer of graphene for use in X-ray emission sources used in medical imaging. The position will be held in the Advanced Nanomaterials Group in the Department of Materials. The project is part of the EPSRC Impact Acceleration Awards (IAA) and involves collaboration between an industrial partner and the University of Manchester to develop graphene enhanced X-ray emission sources for medical imaging technology. You will be based in the Department of Materials and the National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester.

You will be part of a well-established and world leading team working on graphene, and other 2D materials, across the faculty and the National Graphene Institute.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
