Job Description

As Legacy Manager, you’ll lead the strategic development and delivery of the University’s growing legacy programme – a key pillar of our ambitious fundraising and volunteering campaign.

Legacy giving at Manchester is thriving with income exceeding £1 million annually and pledger numbers doubling year-on-year, this is a pivotal moment to scale our impact. You’ll shape and deliver a high-performing, donor-centred legacy programme that supports our campaign ambitions and unlocks transformational future income.

You’ll manage the Legacy Officer and work collaboratively across the directorate and the University to embed legacy giving into supporter journeys, develop compelling propositions, and steward high-value legacy prospects. This is a rare opportunity to lead a programme with significant growth potential and long-term impact.

As our subject matter expert for legacy giving, you’ll design and implement audience-focused strategies, oversee complex estate administration, and represent the University externally. You’ll also provide coaching and leadership to your team, collaborate with colleagues across major gifts, regular giving and cultural institutions, and champion legacy fundraising across the University.

With momentum building around legacy giving, a supportive leadership team, and an inspiring case for support, this is an exceptional opportunity for a talented fundraiser to take their career to the next level.

What will you get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers

As an equal opportunity employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
