Job Description

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Service Delivery Manager (Networks) to take ownership of the delivery, performance, and continual improvement of our core network services alongside a small portfolio of other services.

You will predominantly be based on campus, working closely with our network and service delivery teams, suppliers, programme colleagues, and service partners, you will help ensure that network services are delivered in a way that is sustainable, user-focused, and fit for the future.

This role sits at the intersection of strategy, service performance, and stakeholder experience. You will ensure that network services are reliable, well-understood, and aligned to both Manchester 2035 and the Network 2030 programme, supporting teaching, research, and professional services across the University.

You will act as the key service leader and advocate for network services — translating technical capability into meaningful outcomes, building trust with stakeholders, and ensuring service decisions are driven by clear priorities, evidence, and value.

We’re looking for a Service Delivery Manager who thrives on collaboration, communication, and building strong, trusted relationships. In this role, you’ll work at the heart of the University’s IT Services, ensuring our IT services are not only reliable and effective but also responsive to the evolving needs of our students, staff, and researchers.

You Will:

  • Work closely with technical and programme teams to ensure Network 2030 outcomes are successfully embedded into live services.
  • Support the transition of new network capabilities into BAU operation, ensuring services are supportable, understood, and value-led.
  • Service Leadership: Take ownership of your assigned IT business and technical services across their lifecycle - from initial transition through to retirement, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with business needs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build authentic and productive relationships with colleagues across the University. Lead regular service reviews, facilitate feedback, understand the customer experience, and turn insight into action.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion and coordinate service enhancements based on performance data, user feedback, and collaboration with product teams.
  • Incident & Problem Management: Support service resilience by leading responses to major incidents and driving effective problem resolution.
  • Manage major incidents as part of our on-call incident response management rota with an element of out of hours working.
  • Strategic Contribution: Align service delivery with broader IT and University strategies, helping shape future service offerings and roadmap priorities.
