Job Description


The Department of Materials seeks to appoint a Teaching & Research academic to strengthen specialist capability in digital fashion innovation, with a focus on 3D modelling, virtual prototyping, digital twins and immersive (XR) technologies. Fashion Business & Technology (FBT) is distinctive within the Russell Group for its scale and interdisciplinary scope. Building on a strong reputation for student experience and curriculum innovation, this appointment will strengthen research capacity, doctoral supervision and external funding in digital and technology-enabled fashion innovation. The role supports the University’s Manchester 2035 ambitions by contributing to:

  • Digital transformation in education and research
  • Interdisciplinary, challenge-led research with societal and industrial relevance
  • Partner-enabled learning and industry co-creation
  • Responsible innovation aligned to sustainability and inclusive practice

Applicants must hold a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant field, with a research trajectory appropriate to the level of appointment and the potential to achieve internationally recognised standards of research excellence.
