The Centre for Epidemiology is looking to recruit someone who is looking for an exciting and novel opportunity to develop their own skills and experience in the area of Research Information Governance. Appropriate training opportunities will be supported.
In recognition of the importance of managing data throughout the entirety of the Research Project Lifecycle the Centre for Epidemiology seeks to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Research Information Governance Officer (RIGO) to support and assist the Research Information Governance Manager (RIGM) to manage the Centre’s research data management requirements. The RIGO will have a good understanding of current research data management practices and, the information governance landscape.
You will work closely with researchers providing advice and practical support on research data management, ethics and Health Research Authority applications, University requirements and external data provider requirements. You will undertake this work either directly or liaising with the RIGM or relevant central support services.
You will be supporting researchers whose work involves:
- bespoke research studies including digital health
- data gathering and onward sharing
- secondary use of electronic health records, including governance challenges around linkage and use of free-text
The RIGO will support the RIGM to provide advice and guidance to researchers on data collection, access, management and sharing of healthcare data. You will work with the RIGM to support researcher, working with key stakeholders including external data providers such as NHS Digital and third party collaborators. You will assist the RIGM in developing solutions to facilitate researchers in answering their research questions whilst also ensuring compliance with legal and ethical requirements.
The RIGO will support the RIGM in training Centre staff and students on a range of data issues such as working with special category data, data collection, storage, data handling and sharing, data linkage and anonymisation.
Working with the RIGM, CfE Director and the Senior Management Team you will support the development of standard operating procedures, data access rules for researchers (jointly with the data custodians), oversight and regular audit adherence to the highest governance standards.
You will be based at Centre for Epidemiology in the University of Manchester and will draw on the wide experience of the Research Information Manager.
