The University of Manchester delivers a world-leading portfolio of eHealth research and training across the North of England and beyond. An opportunity has arisen for a Research Assistant to join PROFID; a 21-party pan-European project, with the overarching objective of implementing personalised risk prediction models to support the prevention of sudden cardiac death after myocardial infarction.
We are seeking a Research Associate to support the analysis of routinely collected EU-wide healthcare data to facilitate the advanced data analysis and development of the clinical risk prediction model (under a competing risk framework) as well as apply meta-analysis methods to pool results across datasets. You should have extensive experience of new programming languages, platforms and methodologies including machine learning.
You will be a talented, self-motivated individual with a passion for technology and information analysis, have the ability to work in a team and be someone who sets for themselves the highest professional standards. This is an excellent opportunity to utilise your skills, knowledge and experience to make a significant contribution to improving the health of the population and the efficacy of the health service. You will be based at the University of Manchester, with some travel throughout Europe to work with partner organisations.
You will have proven experience in preparing data for statistical analysis and write scripts in commonly used statistical packages. You will have experience in quantitative scientific data analysis, informatics, scientific algorithm/methods design and statistical evaluation. You should have experience of multi-disciplinary collaboration and a proven ability to use initiative to efficiently plan, optimise, progress project and communicate findings. You will be equally adept working individually or as part of a team, self-motivated and proactive with the ability to apply your initiative. You will have good all round communication skills, be able to discuss technical and nontechnical issues and be able to keep well-written records. You will need to be able to work flexibly to match the varied time demands of the role.
