Job Description

The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures at the University of Manchester invites applications for a full-time lectureship post in Modern British History within the Department of History, tenable from 1/4/2021.

You should have a PhD or equivalent  in Modern British History and a strong record of research and academic publication.  Applications are particularly welcomed from scholars with research expertise in: Histories of Race; the Cultural History of War; Embodied Emotions.

You will be expected to contribute to the delivery of teaching on Modern British History courses, both by distance learning and by face-to-face lectures and seminars. Experience of distance-learning teaching is highly desirable. The History Department at Manchester is committed to decolonising the curriculum and the successful candidate will be expected to engage in this project and take a reflective approach to teaching and learning that seeks to create a positive student experience for all.

The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to administrative tasks for the History department, including participation in regular recruitment activities and staff-student events.
