
We are looking for a Research Assistant or Associate (depending on experience), with a background in applied qualitative research methods, to work on the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funded POLAR Bear project. The study investigates ways to improve communication between dental practitioners and parents, to prevent dental caries in young children. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team comprising health psychologists, dentists and methodologists.
The main focus for the role is conducting a qualitative study, interviewing parents and dental practitioners to understand how to implement POLAR training within routine practice. The candidate will have experience of conducting qualitative research with healthcare professionals and/or parents, and have knowledge of behaviour change theories and techniques. A strong undergraduate degree in psychology is essential and a masters in health psychology or similar is highly desirable. A PhD (or equivalent experience) is necessary to be appointed at the Research Associate level. Experience of successful working with deprived or seldom heard communities would be an advantage
You will be based within the Division of Psychology & Mental Health, and will become part of the Manchester Centre for Health Psychology, a thriving network of academic and practitioner health psychologists.
