Dr Sarah Marie Hall and the Department of Geography are seeking an outstanding Research Associate to join our thriving and dynamic research community as part of the Austerity and Altered Life-Courses project. The post is part of a UKRI-funded Future Leaders Fellowship, in collaboration with Prof. Marre (Autonomous University of Barcelona) and Dr Cuzzocrea (Cagliari University), and comprising a team of 7 non-academic partners and an academic advisory board. Candidates are expected to make a distinct contribution to the project and the team.
You will undertake a diverse set of research tasks, including literature and policy reviews, conduct fieldwork, engage with local, regional, national and international research and policy communities, deliver research methods workshops and materials, data analysis and preparing data for public archives, co-author and lead on paper writing, organise public events and exhibitions, develop policy briefings and workshops. You will be working at the cutting edge of social science research on the everyday impacts of socio-economic policy on young people across Europe.
You will engage and develop effective relationships with stakeholders and colleagues (e.g. collaborators, advisors, participants, funders, partner organisations, community groups). The role requires the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team – this essential. We are looking for someone with a growing record of accomplishment in research fieldwork and publication, as well as excellent personal and project management skills.
This project involves deep investment of time, energy, and resources in three project Research Associates and their academic and personal development, including dedicated mentorship and external academic career support. We will develop as a team, with the objective that the project will provide a host of engaging and unique opportunities. The project will therefore support the candidate in building a research career along the themes of the project. As such, this post is particularly aimed towards early career researchers up to three years from the submission of their PhD, looking to develop their own research agenda.
Happy to talk flexible working.
