Job Description

The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures at the University of Manchester invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate part time twelve-month post, tenable from May 1st 2021.

Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join an AHRC-funded research project, Civic Theatres: A Place for Towns. One of the major innovations of this research is that it primarily addresses the civic role of theatre in towns in England. Cities have dominated public arts agendas, defining cultural tastes, accounting for uneven distribution of employment opportunities in the arts, and taking greater advantage of public funding. This research explores the cultural value of a range of theatres and of diverse kinds of theatrical activity to the life of towns and townspeople.

The successful candidate will be subject to a probationary period.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments will be made on merit.

Blended working arrangements may be considered
