Job Description

Applications are invited for a Public Programmes Manager to lead and direct public and patient engagement and involvement with research at the Wellcome Centre for Cell-Matrix Research (WCCMR).

They will be responsible for supporting members across the Centre to develop nationally recognised, high quality and innovative public and patient engagement and involvement, to inspire and influence key audiences.

You will lead the Centre to move beyond profile raising and public understanding towards connecting with, sharing ideas and involving the public in our work. You will identify gaps in provision and develop strategic initiatives for Centre members and our key audiences. The Centre works within the wider context of the University of Manchester and you will ensure the Centre’s  PPIE framework is cognisant with the University’s strategic goal for Social Responsibility, working alongside both the Faculty’s and the University’s Social Responsibility Teams.

We are looking for a motivated, organised and personable individual with experience of working successfully with patient and public groups and voluntary sector agencies, the ability to work on several different projects with different partners simultaneously and a commitment to public engagement with research.

The WCCMR is based in the Faculty of Biology Medicine and Health at the University of Manchester and is an exciting and dynamic environment. This post provides an excellent opportunity for the right applicant to develop their career in public and patient engagement and involvement.
