The Department of Criminology sits within the School of Social Sciences and is a research-oriented department delivering excellent teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students. To further strengthen our research and teaching portfolio in line with our strategic objectives, we are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Criminology in the area of financial crime and compliance in digital societies.
The appointed lecturer will work with Professor Nicholas Lord to build capacity in teaching and research within the research theme of ‘Fraud, White-Collar and Organised Crime’. More specifically, you will contribute to, and co-lead on, the development of a postgraduate taught programme in the area of financial crime and compliance designed for people working in business with senior management functions relating to strategic and decision-making responsibilities for governance, compliance and financial crime risks. Given the subject matter focus, you will need to have experience of, and expertise in, carrying out financial crime related criminological research and teaching related content through blended learning. You will also be expected to contribute to teaching on our undergraduate and postgraduate criminology programmes more generally and to pursue a financial crime related programme of research. In addition, experience of collaborating with private sector actors will be of great benefit.
Applicants must have a relevant PhD (or be near to the award of a PhD) (or equivalent) and demonstrate the ability to produce high quality publications, meet flexible curricular and teaching needs, and demonstrate capability to contribute organisationally to the wider School community.
Applicants should have experience of delivering research-informed teaching at an institution of higher learning or should be able to demonstrate the clear potential to do so. Teaching duties will include lecturing and small group discussion-based teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There may be opportunities for supervising postgraduate research students.
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments will be made on merit.
Please note that we are unable to respond to enquiries, accept CVs or applications from Recruitment Agencies.
