The Manchester Institute of Education is seeking to appoint an experienced and inspirational maths teacher (in Education) to work on the Primary PGCE course for a fixed term of two years. You will work as part of a team teaching the ITE primary maths programme to a cohort of approx. 170 trainee teachers, initially alongside the primary maths lead with a view to taking on the lead role for the 2nd year (or possibly earlier). You will also be required to assess trainees’ maths subject knowledge and pedagogical skills for maths teaching through maths audits and some observations of trainees’ teaching on practice.
A PGCE qualification and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or equivalent, is essential together with recent, relevant and substantial experience of teaching/working in a primary school as a maths subject leader at a senior leader level (in the last three years ) and some Initial Teacher Education experience.
Please note that flexibility in working patterns and a willingness to travel is a requirement of this role.
