Job Description

We seek an enthusiastic and highly motivated post-doctoral research scientist to work on a project, funded by the Medical Research Council, to examine how the brain recovers from cerebral malaria, with a focus on the physiological systems that return the brain to immunological homeostasis during resolution of the syndrome. The successful candidate will join the lab of Dr. Kevin Couper and work closely alongside the labs of Dr Ben Dickie and Dr Laura Parkes based in FBMH.

The successful candidate will have (or expect to hold shortly) a PhD (or equivalent) with a strong background in immunology and/or neuroscience. The candidate must have excellent technical skills in microscopy (and tissue / cell staining techniques) and have extensive experience of working with murine models, preferably models of neuroinflammation. Training will be available in all areas of the project.  Experience in magnetic resonance imaging would be advantageous.

This full-time post is for up to 36 months, with an anticipated start date of the 1st of August 2021.
