About This Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the UK’s largest universities and help deliver the University of Manchester’s vision to become a world leading university.  Supporting the delivery of this vision will be the authentication, directory and identity management services which are managed and developed by the Identity and Access Management (IDAM) team.

You will be working in a team of 8 to provide directory, identity and access management

Services to over 50,000 students and staff. These include directory provisioning, authentication and federation technologies, MFA and PKI services. This is a dynamic environment with the opportunity to learn new technologies as well as helping to support some of our existing services.

IT Services are looking for a highly technical System Administrator to be a part of our Directories Team.

In return, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills and work in a large organisation providing enterprise level identity and authentication services.

Specific role requirements

Essential:

  • The role with focus on maintenance and enhancement of our existing Identity Management and provisioning services (URS) and will require good knowledge and recent experience of SQL Server including database analysis and design, SQL development and application programming in a database environment, plus a thorough understanding of SQL stored procedures and triggers with recent experience of workflows.
  • Knowledge of third line application development and support.

Desirable:

  • Data modelling experience
  • A knowledge and understanding of directory technology best practice, LDAP and Active Directory.
  • Knowledge and experience of identity lifecycle management
  • Ability to learn new technologies in order to help support some of our existing services.
