The Community Based Medical Education (CBME) team supervises approximately 400 GP teaching practices in the North West region and beyond. Each practice is supported and quality assured by a CBME Clinical Lecturer.
The CBME team use GP tutors to facilitate Clinical Debrief groups at the hospital bases and DGHs/Associated Teaching Hospitals in addition to experiential learning on placement. Sessions run for 2hrs 15 mins and are held weekly. Students bring cases for discussion from any Clinical setting. The tutor facilities learning using Clinical Reasoning methods and stimulating debate. Clinical Debrief provides a safe environment to discuss experiences from week and the impact of working in a clinical environment. Tutors help students recognise and develop their emerging professional identities.
Clinical Debrief facilitation takes place once a week over two semesters, one 14 weeks and one 10 weeks, between September and March. Location, days and times are variable thus appointments are influenced by availability of tutors matching the sessions. Teaching is usually face-to-face, based at the four teaching hospitals and DGHs, however teaching has been reconfigured to be delivered by Zoom in the 20-21 academic year. The format of teaching has yet to be confirmed for the 21-22 year but will be confirmed at the interview selection stage.
As part of the application process, candidates will need to upload their CV and complete a personal statement detailing how they match the person specification, as well as submit a one A4 page lesson outline in preparation for facilitating a CD session with your rationale for each step. As only one document can be uploaded to the application form, please include this lesson outline as an extra page on your CV or add this after your personal statement. Applications without the lesson outline will not be considered.
Interviews for these posts will be held on 13, 14, 20 and 21 July. Please let us know if you are unavailable for interview on any of these dates.
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status
