
Applications are invited for the above post, which is available immediately until March 2022 and will be based at the main Oxford Road campus of The University of Manchester, working remotely in the first instance.
You will become a member of the Centre for Mental Health and Safety, which is based in the Jean McFarlane Building on the main Oxford Road campus of The University of Manchester. The Centre brings together a number of projects that aim to inform future mental healthcare policy and service planning including the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Safety in Mental Health (NCISH), the Manchester Self-harm Project and the Offender health Research Network. It is one of the United Kingdom's foremost research centres in the field of suicidal behaviour and forensic psychiatry. The Director of the Centre is Professor Louis Appleby CBE.
NCISH was established in 1996 at the University of Manchester. NCISH collects detailed clinical information on all suicides by people who have had contact with mental health services in the year before death. Additionally NCISH also runs shorter studies that have developed from the core work of NCISH, further information is available on our website (www.manchester.ac.uk/ncish).
You will contribute to NCISH core work and our NCISH Quality Improvement work as required. You will provide a high standard of research and have an active role in assisting with data collection and processing, data analysis, and writing reports and papers based on research findings. They will produce academic outputs with input from senior management, and support from the research team. This role is offered as a Research Assistant (grade 5) or Research Associate (grade 6) post, dependent on experience.
