Introduction:

The MBChB programme is based on an integrated curriculum with Years 1 and 2 delivering the basic sciences that underpin the foundations of medicine and includes early clinical experience. Years 3 and 4, build on these foundations and emphasise learning through clinical experience.  The final year of the Programme integrates the learning of the previous 4 years and prepares the students for practice. During the Programme students undertake areas of more in depth study, mainly of their own choosing, through the Personal Excellence Pathway, student selected clinical placements, and intercalated degrees.  The programme also includes a pre-med foundation programme.  Students are educated in the University and in NHS facilities across the North West of England.

The MBChB programme delivers a range of learning outcomes that meets University degree requirements and align with and satisfy the outcomes and competencies described by the GMC.

Medical Students facing difficulties may approach any number of a wide range of staff, however, with more serious issues, they are strongly advised to seek help from the SPS Team who offer advice on handling and implications of personal, health or financial problems, which have an impact on their studies and/or wellbeing.
